Our Identity and Mission
The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Selbstständiger Migranten e.V. (ASM)
is a non-profit organisation aimed at contributing to the successful
integration of immigrants via the educational and vocational training
programmes it offers in Hamburg.
To achieve this objective the organisation concentrates on providing
support to entrepreneurs with immigration backgrounds in particular.
Our Values
We believe in living together in harmony and work to promote understanding
between peoples.
We respect the dignity of each and every individual irrespective
of social and cultural origins, regardless of religion, gender and
age.
We appreciate the differences between Germans and people from other
countries on the basis of free democratic values.
We have a great deal of respect for the work and achievements of
self-employed immigrants against the background of a German majority
society.
Our cooperation as a team is informed by mutual appreciation, openness,
transparency and reciprocal support.
Our Customers
We seek to assist persons wishing to found a business, the self-employed,
business people, trainees and apprentices, and employees of all
nationalities.
Our general goals
With ASM:
We contribute to increasing market transparency among the self-employed
of foreign origin and to stabilising companies run by immigrants.
As such, we ensure that immigrants successfully participate in society
as a whole.
For ASM:
We will use a professional approach to achieve a high level of recognition
over the next few years, growing to become a valued expert contact
for questions and issues facing immigrants in the business community.
Abilities
We possess expert specialised, interpersonal and social skills and
are experienced in both project and intercultural work.
Our Services
We offer customers information, advice, support and target-group
specific educational opportunities such as seminars, presentations
and other types of events.
Via open internal and external communication we make the needs and
potential of our target group visible in society and in the business
community.
Our resources
Personnel:
The different social origins, socialisation and professional experience
of the members of the ASM team allows for a multiplicity of perspectives
and approaches when meeting our professional obligations and designing
our working day. In key areas, the ASM can build on the experience
of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft türkischer Unternehmer und Existenzgründer
e.V. (Working Group of Turkish Entrepreneurs, ATU).
We value as a key resource the volunteer work of our board members
and founders who actively pursue the organisation's interests, in
particular as information multipliers.
Materials:
Funds from projects, memberships dues and donations
Infrastructure:
The Arbeitsgemeinschaft selbstständiger Migranten is housed
in a centrally-located office that is well-furnished and boasts
excellent technical equipment. We are easy for clients to reach
and our team enjoys optimal working conditions.
We consider a learning process to have been a success
if it builds on participants' existing skills, makes these
visible, and expands on them to the advantage of professional integration.
The results of a successful learning process are the expansion of
participants' sense of orientation and their ability to act in a
professional and intercultural setting in particular.
We consider our services to have been successful when self-employment
and professional perspectives lead to participation in society and
as such to successful integration.
