Hamburger Mediation Service Training

In Hamburg around 20 percent of all trainees drop out of training. The Hamburg Department for Business and Labour is supporting the "Hamburger Mediation Service Training" in the framework of the European Social Funds to address this issue. Central goals here include lowering the number of trainee drop-outs in programmes both in and outside companies and increasing the rate of transfer to employment at the 2nd threshold.

The project began on January 1, 2011 and addresses trainers in Hamburg businesses and external organisations on the one hand, and trainees in in-company and external employment relationships along with trainers at Hamburg's vocational schools on the other.

For the above target group, the ASM functions as a mediator to prevent trainees from dropping out before finishing their education and for the transition of trainees into employment with the following services:

  • Advising per telephone and both in and out of house
  • "Round table" mediation
  • Measures to assist in the early recognition of training crises
  • Seminars to promote motivation and the expansion of social skills
  • Support for transition management for training outside a company
  • Placement services for those who have completed training
