The first project being carried out by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft
selbstständiger Migranten e.V. (Working Group of Immigrant
Entrepreneurs, ASM) is called "Weitblick" or "Vision"
and was started on April 1, 2007. It is part of the JOBSTARTER
(site available in German only) programme supported by the Federal
Ministry of Education and Research and the European Union (European
Social Funds).
The goal of "Vision" is to create trainee positions
in firms run by entrepreneurs with immigrant backgrounds. These
trainee positions are generally in commercial areas, in the trade
and service sectors. ASM employees also organise group training.
Over the course of the project a foundation
to support trainee positions in small companies managed by immigrants
will be established. Within the framework of JOBSTARTER, we have
also prepared the ground for a foundation.
The "Vision" project team members also lobby for education
and training. Their objective is to anchor this topic in the
consciousnesses of business people with immigration backgrounds.
To this end, the team works together with selected media targeted
at immigrants of different nationalities.
